We are a Military Family

We are a Military family!

My kids have seen 11 countries and lived in several different states.

My friends are from all over the country and I even have a few living overseas.

We know how to be alone, even if we don’t like it.

We know what an ACU, PCS and WLC all stand for. Acronyms are our friends.

We know how wonderful homecoming is and how hard saying goodbye is.

We are away from our families and learn to adapt.

We know how to organize any size home.

We keep going even when it gets too hard.

Life sure is interesting being a Military family. We never really know what our plans are for the year until they happen. Things can change all the time. Orders get extended, deployment dates change or PCS orders get delayed. Military families have to learn to adapt and live life without knowing how it is all going to work out. We have to go through deployments which challenge us in different ways. I have to play mommy and daddy for months at a time. My children have to learn that friends have to move often but that is apart of being a Military family.

Military Family

We were married 3.5 years and had 1 child when my husband joined the Army. I try to remember what it was like back then. My husband always left for work at a certain time and always got home about that time. If he had to work on a Saturday, he got extra pay. If he needed a day off, he just asked for it. There was a lot more freedom than there is now. There were no deployments or stress about when I would see my husband again. Our lives really changed when my husband joined the Military. Now that is has been almost 7 years, I hardly remember the days when the Army wasn’t apart of our lives.

One great thing about Military families is that we can always find other Military families who have gone through what we have gone through. We can always find another family going through another deployment, getting ready to PCS or just going through a difficult time. I am thankful for my Military family and thankful for all the great friends I have made during the last few years. It has definitely made this life a little easier knowing we don’t have to go through it alone.

Military families come from different states and backgrounds. Some have children, others do not. Some plan to live the Military life for 20+ years and others only for a couple. One thing we all have in common is how we can get through the hard times and come out the other side even stronger. We love our country and that is why we do what we do. I am thankful to be apart of this great group of people.
